Diploma VS. Graduation In Engineering — WisBlogg
--
A diploma instead of graduation is a risky step to take, but consider it the wisest step towards your career.
There is a term in economics called “Opportunity Cost”, which means the value of the opportunity that you could’ve taken benefit of instead.
A diploma is a real-life example of opportunity cost.
You will get more chances to get placed, first after your last year of diploma and the second one in your last year of graduation.
1) A Diploma Does Not Equal To A Graduation
A diploma does not equal to graduation and graduation must be done for better opportunities.
2) A Diploma Should Be Done After High School
You should do a diploma right after high school.
On the other hand, you can choose a non-diploma related field in your class 12th and then continue to do your diploma, this will help you widen your perspective.
As for my experience, I chose commerce for my class 12th, and now have the knowledge about both the fields, businesses as well as engineering.
3) Helps In Specialisation
A diploma focuses on specialization in a particular field and providing better knowledge as well as keeping the 12th standard education pattern.
A diploma helps you specialize, and with specialization comes opportunity.
4) You Save Time
It requires different durations to do different types of diplomas.
A diploma course is a short-term course that focuses on training a person in a particular field.
In my case, choosing a diploma from a polytechnic college after high school saved 2 years of my intermediate education.
At the same time instead of spending 7 years in doing 3 years of diploma and 4 years of engineering, I am able to complete my whole diploma & graduation in 6 years.
5) More Opportunity

6) You Are More Likely To Be Hired And Valued
As we have discussed before, by doing a diploma and then graduation, you will save almost 3 years of your life
A diploma and graduation student is more valued and holds even more potential that makes them stand out more.
7) It’s Hard
Something you should always keep in mind that unlike any other bachelor’s degree, you will not have any time to enjoy the new college life, it’s just hard work.
A diploma is hard, and even tougher when you’re coming from high school.
You will learn tougher lessons and you have on work on them, practice them and make sure to pass all the exams with good grades, and maintaining all of this means you won’t have a lot of time in your hands
8) Higher Education
You can always choose a higher-level course to develop your abilities.
You can always choose to go and pursue a bachelor’s degree. Whereas, as an engineering graduate you can always try ago for a master’s degree or get a decent job.
9) Public And Private Sector Jobs
The public sector doesn’t have a lot of opportunities for a diploma student, but the private sector holds a lot of opportunities if you have the potential.
10) Entrepreneurship
With the new technologies coming up, the innovation era is on the rise.
You can start your own business or a company with available options as well as the resources.
That was everything you should know to help yourself decide if you want to do a diploma or graduation.
